Description:

An unusual 18ct gold & Platinum ring of flower-head/ floral design. Set to the center features a bright, white gorgeous glimmering old cut diamond which is surrounded by natural fiery opal 'petals' of desirable, soft pastel tones and bright colour play.

The pictures are taken in natural, outdoor lighting to show accurate colour depiction. The last two photos are taken in I direct sunlight to show the vibrancy of colour.

 A wonderful addition to any antique jewellery collection.

Unlike pure 24 carat gold, lesser carats are an alloy of gold with a mixture of various metals added such as copper or silver. Therefore the consistency and concentration of gold content will fluctuate throughout an item so any present hallmarks or stamps should only be viewed as an approximation or guide.

Antique jewellery (ie. Georgian/ Victorian) was often not hallmarked, as compulsory hallmarking of all precious metals did not begin until the 1920’s, only becoming law in 1973. Consequently assay offices carry a pre-1950’s exemption from hallmarking. This means that any piece pre-dating the 1950’s that is not hallmarked is exempt from the normal requirements of the assay office.

Some claws missing on the opal pinched collet settings (see photos), the stones are all secure. Light wear to the opals surfaces. 

All items are Antique or vintage, expect some signs of wear consistent with age and use.
